Halloween

So we had a busy Halloween this year. Here's the breakdown:

Wednesday we carved our pumpkins. The boys hated getting out the guts, but loved the carving. Matt helped Devan carved a pirate pumpkin. Hunter carved three different faces on his pumpkin by himself. Matt had wanted to carve a spider out of two pumpkins, but lost his steam after being so helpful to the boys. I got in the zone and made a carving of Death in the graveyard. We also did a quick permanent marker face on a mini-pumpkin for Aiden.

Thursday we went on a preschool field trip to Krispy Kremes. They weren't making donuts at the time so the manager brought out raw dough for the kids to play with. They also got a free donut and a hat. Devan loved his pumpkin donut and got nice and sticky.

Friday started with a Halloween pizza party with the ward. Devan's favorite part was the dessert pizza and the ride on horse. Later in the day and we drove to Juliet's for trick or treating. Juliet and Marty have the best and most elaborate decorations you've ever seen (see Scary House link to the left). This year their theme was "Dead Man's Party". They had a full size dummy in a coffin, it was awesome. One of the houses had a huge frankenstein (pictured). Last year that house had a pirate ship with working cannons. A lot of the other houses in the area try to follow suit and it's a lot of fun to trick or treat there. Devan darted from house to house and was not deterred in his quest for sweets no matter how scary the displays or costumes were. Hunter struggled in his costume and quickly lost the leg tubes and helmet that Matt had made. Even still, the box that the costume was made out of did not allow for much mobility and he puttered around the rest of the night. He also could not reach his hands to his face, which itched from the face paint, so I obliged and he used his light stick. He developed an interesting technique of throwing candy from one hand into his bag that he held with other, however if it dropped he needed assistance. He only fell twice, and I was surprised by his comment after the second grizzly fall. He said he was glad he had his costume on to protect him. Funny how he didn't blame the costume for the fall. It didn't even phase him because he was glowing from all the compliments he received.

Saturday we went to our Ward's Trunk or Treat. Matt made some minor modifications to Hunter's costume, but he was not able to sit down and watch the movie. He was successful at kneeling down, but had to get assistance back up. Devan once again managed to focus all his energy in the pursuit of candy.

And as for Aiden, I'm sure he thought that we all went bizerk for four days.
