What is that sound?

I couldn't figure out what this sound was until I looked over. Hunter thinks he's saying "hello" to the thomas cup. He makes the sound at the end again, so just wait for it.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day this year. It started with sleeping in and five star breakfast that Matt made for me. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs... the works. I got some wonderful handmade gifts from Hunter and calla lilies from Matt.

Devan helped to put a very cute photo in a "Word's Best Mom" photo frame at nursery. After church, we had everyone over for another wonderful meal by Matt. One of the best Mother's days I've had so far.

Rainy Zoo

We had a fun trip to the Zoo last Saturday. The forecast said that it was only supposed to be sprinkling. As I was driving to the Zoo I realized that the weather man had underestimated the rain. We got everyone bundled and decided it still wasn't bad enough to cancel. Most of the trip went fine, but there was one good downpour that drove us into the bird sanctuary. After a few minutes in there, we decided that the stench and the chance of being pooped on wasn't worth the shelter. As we were making our way back to the gate, the rain stopped and we ended up seeing the bears in their new exhibit and hanging out with the eagles.

The boys are looking forward to the dinosaur exhibit that's coming next week. There was three different kinds of dinosaur statues there to advertise the event. This is Hunter's impression of a T-Rex. He's got the hands down pat.
Lots of fun and truly done Oregon style!

District Science Fair

Hunter was invited to participate in the district Science fair last Thursday. So while Matt and Devan were at the hospital, I got to take Hunter. His experiment was titled, "Turn on those Lemons!" He was hoping to light a light bulb by connecting lemons with copper wire. The light bulb didn't light, it turned out to be a faulty experiment, but the lemons did register electric current when hooked up to a meter. Hunter practiced his interview skills for days beforehand and was excited to go.
He had two judges ask him questions about his experiment. Both judges were amazed at his age and thought he did a wonderful job. He got fours (out of five) from both.
He was very proud of his ribbon.
It is so fun when Hunter gets excited about doing these things. His eyes light up and you can see that his mind is busy thinking about it. He'd make a great scientist.

Things you can learn from chocolate

Last thursday, Devan was determined to get into trouble. First he got into the bandaids and spread them on the floor. Then, when I left him to eat his snack and came upstairs to check my email, he got into a chocolate bar that was on the counter. Matt had bought it with plans to make cookies with it. He came up the stairs saying, "Bite Chocolate mama!" His face looked like this:

Then I went downstairs and found this:

I cleaned him up, put the rest of the bar in the pantry and we went back upstairs. He asked for more chocolate, but I told him "chocolate all done." Then, with my attention back on my work, I didn't notice that he went back downstairs until a few minutes later. When I found him he had an open travel-sized bottle of tylenol next to him. He had discovered the bottle during his search for the remaining chocolate. So after a 911 call, we ended up in the ER waiting for hours for the results of a blood test. Thankfully the answer was that there was no tylenol in his system, but we couldn't take a chance. Now I know that Devan + Chocolate = no good.
